I worked all seven days this week. Is the seventh day paid differently?
Yes. On the seventh consecutive day of a single workweek, the first 8 hours are paid at 1.5× and everything beyond 8 at 2×. This applies to the seventh day itself regardless of how many hours the week totalled — it is a separate rule from the daily and weekly overtime tests.
The rule is tied to a workweek, which is a fixed set of seven consecutive 24-hour periods your employer designates. Seven days worked across two different workweeks does not trigger it.
Because the workweek is fixed, an employer cannot redraw its boundaries after the fact to split a run of seven days. It can be changed prospectively for legitimate reasons, but not to avoid an obligation that has already arisen.
This stacks with the daily rules rather than replacing them. Working 10 hours on the seventh day means 8 at 1.5× and 2 at 2×.
It is one of the easiest premiums for a small employer to miss, because it usually happens during a short-staffed stretch when nobody is looking at the calendar.
