Comparison
How WeERM compares — including where it doesn't win.
Most comparison pages are written by the company that wins them. This one names what WeERM does not do, and says when another tool is the better choice. You are going to find that out anyway; better here than after you have paid.
The pricing model matters more than the price
For a small employer, the number on the pricing page rarely decides the bill — the way it is charged does. A per-location fee is excellent value at one site and painful at four. Per-employee is the reverse.
We deliberately do not quote competitors' dollar figures here. Published prices change, and a stale number would mislead you. Each row links to that vendor's own pricing page so you can check today's figure at the source. Models below reflect what those pages published as of August 2026.
| Tool | How it charges | Better for you when… | Worse for you when… |
|---|---|---|---|
| WeERM | Per employee, per month. No per-location fee. | You run more than one worksite, or a small team across several sites. | You have many employees at a single location and need only a time clock. |
| Deputy | Per user, per month. | You want scheduling-led workforce management and headcount is modest. | Headcount grows — the bill scales with every seat, as ours does. |
| When I Work | Per user, per month. | Shift scheduling and swapping is the main job to be done. | You need HR beyond scheduling — onboarding, leave, documents. |
| Homebase | Per location, per month — unlimited employees on paid plans. | One location with a large team. This is genuinely hard to beat. | You have several locations; the fee repeats for each one. |
| Connecteam | Flat tier up to a headcount, then per user above it. | You sit just under a tier ceiling. | You cross the ceiling — the step up can be abrupt. |
What WeERM does not do
If one of these is your main requirement, a different tool will serve you better.
Run payroll or file taxes
WeERM produces payroll-ready hours and an estimated gross for your payroll provider to run. If you want payroll processing in the same tool, Gusto, ADP, or QuickBooks Payroll is the better fit.
Applicant tracking or recruiting
WeERM starts at the point of hire. Sourcing and interviewing live elsewhere.
Point-of-sale or scheduling-forward shift marketplaces
If shift swapping and a shift marketplace are the core need, a scheduling-led product will serve you better than we do.
Benefits administration or workers’ comp
Those stay with your broker or PEO.
Where WeERM is different
Most tools in this category stop at hours and hand California back to you. Ours is built around it.
- California daily overtime, double-time, and the seventh-day premium computed as employees clock — not reconstructed at payroll
- Meal and rest break tracking with premium flags
- Geofenced clock-in on web, mobile, and a shared kiosk, plus home fences for remote staff
- Location read only when someone taps Start or End Work — never in the background
- Paperless onboarding with federal and California forms, e-signed and encrypted at rest
- PTO and nine leave types with approval routing
- Direct, team, and group chat, plus Ask HR
- One per-employee price with no per-location fee
Payroll summaries are informational and must be reviewed by an employer or payroll provider before payment. Not legal advice.
Our pricing, stated plainly
Lite $3 · Standard $5 · Premium $8 per employee per month. No per-location fee, no setup fee. Most teams start on Standard.
